Urban White Paper
Significant progress has been made delivering the commitments published in Our Towns and Cities: The Future - Delivering an Urban Renaissance (The Urban White Paper) in 2000. However, what happens in towns and cities is about more than just urban policy. It is about markets and how other policies (e.g housing, planning, transport, governance) affect urban areas.
The Sustainable Communities Plan - Building for the Future (2003) complements and builds on the White Paper. In 2005 ODPM launched two five year plans, Homes for All and People, Places and Prosperity, which take forward the Plan's delivery and represent the next phase in creating sustainable communities.
