Part 8 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 gives local authorities in England and Wales new powers to deal with complaints about high hedges.
This consultation paper relates to implementation of these provisions in England only. The Welsh Assembly Government is responsible for their implementation in Wales.
Before Part 8 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 can be brought into operation, Regulations governing certain procedural details need to be put in place.
Views are also sought on the associated draft guidance, principally for local authorities, on administering complaints - High Hedges Complaints Prevention and Cure: Consultation Draft .
Note: The above publication was issued by our former department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). ODPM became Communities and Local Government (DCLG) on 5 May 2006 - all references in the text to ODPM now refer to Communities and Local Government.
