This consultation paper asks for views on draft consolidated and updated Procedure Rules governing inquiries into compulsory purchase orders (CPOs).
These take account the changes to procedure and the new terms introduced by Part 8 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and the subsequent Compulsory Purchase of Land (Written Representations Procedure) (Ministers) Regulations 2004 (SI 2004 No 2594). They also reflect the commitment given to combine into a single unified set of Rules the separate arrangements which currently apply to ministerial and non-ministerial CPOs respectively.
Note: The above publication was issued by our former department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). ODPM became Communities and Local Government on 5 May 2006 - all references in the text to ODPM now refer to Communities and Local Government.
