Please note: This guidance has now been replaced by The Validation of Planning Applications: Guidance for local planning authorities published 7 December 2007.
This guidance outlines the current procedures for the validation of planning applications by planning authorities; provides guidance on the scope of material that should be supplied with planning applications; and outlines the benefits of a 'validation checklist' in helping authorities to achieve good standards of performance and providing planning authorities and applicants with greater certainty as to the nature and extent of information required in order to validate applications.
Note: The above publication was issued by our former department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). ODPM became Communities and Local Government on 5 May 2006 - all references in the text to ODPM now refer to Communities and Local Government.
