The Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions (now Communities and Local Government) has commissioned a three-year evaluation of the process by which asset management plans and corporate capital strategies are developed and implemented and of their impact on the efficiency and effectiveness with which local authorities manage their property and other capital resources.
This report is one of the first outputs from the research. It seeks to establish the baseline position in relation to the preparation of capital strategies and asset management plans.
The findings and recommendations in this report are those of the consultant authors and do not necessarily represent the views or proposed policies of Communities and Local Government.
