Summary

In late 2003, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister commissioned this review from the Centre for Comparative Housing Research and the Health Policy Research Unit at De Montfort University, Leicester.

The aim was to identify the known impacts of overcrowded housing on people's health and education. To achieve this aim, the review identified, and critically assessed the research evidence.

This report presents the findings in relation to physical health, mental health, childhood growth, development and education, and other impacts including personal safety and accidents.

Further information is contained in the full report, The Impact of Overcrowding on Health and Education: A Review of the Evidence and Literature, (see link on the right).
