The Government consulted on proposals for secondary legislation to Part IV of the Housing Act 2004, regarding Empty Dwelling Management Orders (EDMOs) (available to download below).
Consultees were asked for their views on an acceptable period of time for a property to be left unoccupied before local authorities contemplated an EDMO; whether there should be specific exceptions to the legislation for particular classes of property, eg second homes and how EDMOs should apply to dwellings subject to a lease.
This publication summarises the responses to these questions and the Government's view on the main comments received which will inform secondary legislation.
