These Standards represent Communities and Local Government policy for both the approval and ongoing operation of Certification Schemes and are the minimum requirements to be met by a Certification Scheme. A Certification Scheme may apply additional voluntary standards for its own purposes, provided that they are not inconsistent with these Standards. If a Certification Scheme applies any voluntary standards they must be operated and reported on separately from these Standards. Such voluntary standards may need to be audited by Communities and Local Government to ensure that they are not inconsistent with the Standards specified by the Secretary of State.
All Home Inspectors must work to the Standards described, to maintain public confidence in the Home Condition Report and the role of the Home Inspector.
