The Housing Green Paper Quality and Choice: A Decent Home For All, published in April 2000, proposed a series of pilot schemes to test the concept of choice-based approaches to letting local authority and housing association housing. Twenty-seven LA-led pilot projects were established to test alternative ways of giving new and existing social tenants in England greater choice in selecting their housing, while continuing to meet housing need.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) commissioned BMRB Social to conduct research exploring the experiences and perceptions of tenants and applicants who had registered with pilot choice-based lettings schemes. This note provides a short summary of their key findings. The full report is available via the link on the right.
