This consultation exercise deals with one aspect of the Audit Commission's Service Assessment of Fire and Rescue Authorities. The Service Assessment comprises two elements; the Operational Assessment of Service Delivery, which ODPM has been asked to undertake working with Fire and Rescue Authorities and consideration of BVPI and PI data. These two components will be brought together by the Audit Commission and scored.
The Audit Commission proposes that the service block will form part of the CPA for Single Tier and County Councils in 2006, for other types of Fire and Rescue Authorities it will be a stand-alone scored judgement. The Audit Commission will be consulting separately on the weighting to be given to the respective parts of the service assessment and the other parts of the package of performance assessment measures for Fire and Rescue Authorities.
