Summary

The Government is responsible for setting clear priorities and objectives for the Fire and Rescue service. The National Framework sets out:

  • The Government's expectations for the Fire and Rescue Service
  • What Fire and Rescue Authorities are expected to do; and
  • What support the Government will provide.

The National Framework underlines the Government's long term commitment to improving fire and rescue services. To ensure the Framework is a product of partnership and in recognition that its lifespan is now for two years, we are consulting on a full draft of the National Framework document for 2006-2008.

For instructions on responding to the consultation, please refer to FRS Circular 52/2005 (see link above right).
