Working Neighbourhoods Fund

The Working Neighbourhoods Fund provides funding to local authorities to help tackle worklessness in deprived areas. The Working Neighbourhoods Fund started in April 2008 with a £1.5bn three year settlement. It therefore ends in March 2011. It is currently distributed to the 61 local authorities with high levels of worklessness. Money was also awarded to transitional non-eligible authorities who had received the predecessor Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) and incorporates the Department of Work and Pensions Deprived Areas Fund (DAF).

2009-10 Working Neighbourhood Fund allocations were announced on 4 February 2009 as part of the Area Based Grant. These figures are published in the Area Based Grant tables on this site (see link on the right).
