Dear Chief Executive,
Local government (Best Value) Performance Indicators and standards: Statutory Instrument 2003 no. 530
I am writing to advise you that Statutory Instrument 2003 No.530 on best value performance indicators and standards has been laid in Parliament, and will come into force on 1 April.
This Order made by the Secretary of State, under section 4 of the Local Government Act 1999, formally sets out the best value performance indicators to be collected in 2003/2004. It brings into effect the best value indicators and standards published on 14 February 2003 in the guidance document Best Value Performance Indicators 2003/2004, and circulated to all Chief Executives at best value authorities.
The Order is on The Stationery Office's website at: http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2003/20030530.htm
Alternatively, hard copies of the Order are available from HMSO. ISBN 0-11-042172-4.
An amendment to this Order is currently being drafted by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to take account of agreed new pooling arrangements with Somerset, Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire and Wiltshire waste authorities for waste performance standards in 2003/04 & 2005/06. Plus Merseyside and Manchester waste authorities' arrangements for 2003/04.
A hard copy of this letter and the feedback document can both be made available upon request. Please contact the Performance Indicator team for information on the enquiry points listed above.
Yours sincerely,
Colin Cotmore
