Together We Can is the governments action plan to get citizens and public bodies working together to make life better, led by Communities and Local Government's Civil Renewal Unit.
A year on from the launch of the plan we have published an Annual Review looking at governments progress on the Together We Can action plan
On 28 June 2006 Ruth Kelly MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, launched the Together We Can annual review. The review looks at the governments progress on its work to empower citizens to influence public services and policy.
Copies of the Annual Review together with a special edition of the WeCan! newsletter are available from the right-hand side of the page.
Launched on 28 June 2005 Together We Can sets out the Government's commitment to empower citizens to work with public bodies to set and achieve common goals.
By having this shared plan of action we can ensure the key initiatives from all relevant Government departments are carried out so they make a real difference to people's lives. The plan helps us to join up our initiatives across government. It enables us to share and review what we learn as the plan progresses, and provides a basis on which we can build partnerships outside government to take our policies forward
12 government departments are taking part in the Together We Can plan and it covers a wide range of area. The plan is divided into four strands:
"The Together We Can action plan is an important benchmark in giving people control over their own communities." Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Home Secretary, and Hazel Blears MP, Minister of State
We have summarised the Together We Can action plan in the first part of Together We Can action plan document and under the strand headings on this website to provide a flavour of its scope and ambition. The detail of the plan is in part two of the action plan.
The Together We Can action plan is available to download from the right of the page.
